In many apartments, a large part of family life takes place in the kitchen. Here are cooked together and often also eaten. The kitchen lighting should therefore illuminate the work area well and simultaneously create a pleasant flair in the room.
The ceiling lamp provides an atmosphere
The light switchable from the door is the central light of the room. As a rule, this is a ceiling lamp that illuminates the room as a whole. The lamp, which is often multi-lighted, is completely sufficient to bring something to a brief moment, to turn on the coffee machine or to get rid of the garbage. However, with this light the work surface is usually ill-lit - for cooking, the lighting of the kitchen with a ceiling lamp is not enough. Nevertheless, it is indispensable as a kitchen lamp, especially when it is eaten in the kitchen, because it creates a cozy atmosphere. When eating together, a brightly illuminated working surface would rather be a disruptive effect.
The ceiling lamp for the kitchen should not be too bulky and can handle frequent switching. LED lamps are suitable, for example, because they convince with energy efficiency and resilience. They are now also available in warm white light tones, which does not spread a canteen flair, but the kitchen lights very pleasantly.
Cozy at the dining table
Bright, in particular cold white light is disturbing and glaring at the cozy dinner with friends and family. It creates a cool and sober atmosphere and makes faces appear unnaturally pale. The warm, yellowish light, which is accustomed to light bulbs, is much more natural and comfortable. A dimmer switch, with which the brightness can be infinitely adjusted, significantly increases comfort.
Light over work surface, sink and stove
The illumination of the work surface should meet the highest demands. Although luminaries are usually integrated in the hood hoods, since they are concentrating on the hearth surface, additional luminaries are required over the worktop and the sink. For this purpose, so-called light spots, which can be integrated directly into the upper cabinets, or chimney lamps, are particularly suitable. Both versions are hardly noticeable when switched off and provide good working light when switched on. In the case of the chimney lamps, glare strips are necessary, which direct the light on the working surface. If the work surface is not illuminated from the top, but from the side, the source of light should be opposite the working hand so that no objectionable shadow falls on the working area.
By the way, you can never have enough sockets in the working area. If there is an electrical installation anyway, it is a good idea to integrate the one or the other socket in the area of the underfloor lamps.
